Five Reasons You Should Consider Online Personal Training

Picture This: It’s close to the end of the Pandemic but because of future variants or other factors, you may not have the time or money to step foot in a gym. You still want to work with a trainer but without leaving your house or location flexibility. Not to worry! For there is a growing online option.

While many meetings and gatherings have been conducted using video conferencing apps, trainers like myself are using them to bring the personal training experience anywhere and at any time. Here are a few reasons you should consider this option:

  1. No Exercise Equipment Necessary (But Any Bit Helps!)

Not everyone can afford their own home gym. However, space can be made to accommodate exercises that use little to no equipment. In this case, more bodyweight exercises can be used, but things like exercise bands, adjustable dumbbells and kettlebells, and jump ropes can be a smart investment. Also, with warmer weather coming, even a walk around the block or at a park can be a great warm-up or cool-down.

  2. You Can Workout From Anywhere (Even If You’re Traveling!)

Thanks to the rise of Zoom and other video conferencing apps through the pandemic, personal and group training classes are now more accessible than ever and don’t require stepping foot in a gym. This is not limited to home or apartment workouts. If you travel for work or want a guided workout during your vacation, bring your phone or laptop to your hotel room or fitness center (if empty, of course) and a session can be conducted from there.

  3. You Can Workout On Your Own Time

There may be a pattern developing here in terms of flexibility, but yes, you can work out on your own time. Only have time in the early morning or late at night, there may be a trainer that can work with you during those times. If you work with a trainer who plans out your workouts and uses visuals to show you techniques for every exercise (i.e. an on-demand model), this may work in your favor as you can choose your time to perform your workout. The important thing here is for you to be accountable for planning and performing these workouts with or without your trainer present.

  4. Your Trainer Can Conduct Sessions From Anywhere

Personally, I have conducted a session from my hotel room in Seattle while my client was in Cleveland, which is a three-hour difference but gives me time to work out with clients from all over the country. So even if your trainer is on the road and has time to see a couple of clients, you may still have access to live sessions.

  5. You Still Get the PT Experience Wherever You Go

Especially during a live session, your trainer can still give you immediate feedback after each set. Each trainer may have his or her own method of conducting an online workout, maybe including things like music and a countdown timer or using an on-demand model to give you the workout and proper forms for each exercise. The only difference is the setting.

Bottom Line: Online Personal Training is a flexible option no matter what your situation. No equipment? Work with your trainer to come up with a bodyweight-only workout. Traveling for work? Find time before or after your meetings or conferences to perform a workout with your trainer, even if it’s for a shortened time.
