The Intersection of Fitness and Community

Next Boot Camp: Saturday, September 7th @ 11:30 am (Black Valve, Euclid)

Heading into its fourth year, the CP Personal Training Boot Camp is a unique fitness offering in Northeast Ohio where outdoor workouts are held every Saturday during the Summer, and it is the perfect place to meet new people and build a community.

Please consult your healthcare provider before participating in any exercise program.

Whether you are new to working out or an experienced athlete, the CPPT Boot Camp combines the community aspect of CrossFit with the intensity of similar boutique fitness studios while bringing the action outside.

Who Are The Boot Camps For?

Young Professionals

Boot Camps are a great place to make connections, increase stamina, and boost energy. As a young professional, I know the importance of keeping up with the demands of the workplace. Making connections and working with others at a time of a mental health crisis makes this affordable class the perfect option for those who want to stay fit.

It’s easy to say it’s for everyone, but here are some of the populations they are centered toward:

The Workout Novice

You may have asked yourself where to start on your fitness journey. Even if group fitness is not for you, this would be a great time to try a class. You will perform exercises with modified movements and have the support of experienced participants. Once you are ready for the next level, follow along and prepare to move in ways you did not think you could before.

Busy Parents

Sometimes you need a break from the action. Whether setting an hour on a Saturday morning to complete your workout or bringing your kids along and getting them active, I will work with you to reduce stress and provide a quick and efficient workout to prepare for the week ahead.

Seniors

Mobility, balance, and strength are three important factors in maintaining independence as you age. We will focus on those mostly through agility drills and strength exercises. Go at your own pace and make proper modifications throughout the hour we have together.

Why Should You Attend?

Community Builder

It’s all about bringing people together to reach similar goals. Everyone attending will learn to work together, meet like-minded individuals, and build confidence throughout the workout.

Motivational

It’s true. You will feel like you want to quit halfway through, but you will receive encouragement from me and your fellow campers. We are in this together for the hour.

Workout Variety

Not every workout is the same! One week you will perform an all-around workout; the next could be solely strength training. I will give you a heads-up on the format. It’s up to you to prepare for it!

Unique Offering

Similar offerings are only held indoors. Yes, these businesses are more established and have set workouts. However, this is one of a few, if not only, workouts held outside in Northeast Ohio.

Trainer Experience

I have held these classes for three years and have performed workouts of this type through conferences and seminars. I know how tough it is to power through.

Mental Health

We have been through a lot in the past few years. Between COVID and conflict, it seems like life has separated us further. This offering brings people face-to-face and can have a lasting impact beyond the one hour we have together.

FAQs

  • A “Fitness Boot Camp” can consist of exercises ranging from high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to strength training. They can be formatted in different ways, including timed stations, AMRAP (as many repetitions/rounds as possible), or Tabata.

Some boot camps can be run military-style, but they have centered more towards high energy with a push from trainers to help their clients reach levels they previously could not think they could attain.

My Boot Camps bring the community aspect to each workout while performing less-intense exercises than CrossFit. All fitness levels are welcome and modifications can be made depending on your experience or medical condition.

All Boot Camps will be set to music, depending on the theme of the day. They will each consist of a warmup period, the main workout, a fitness-based game, and a cooldown period. Classes last from 45 minutes to one hour.

  • Although aimed at young professionals, all ages and fitness levels can attend. You will have to sign a waiver before your first class.

  • Boot Camps are mainly held outside of Kings Gym in Bedford Heights. Just turn into Bedford Street and park in the back.

I understand that Kings may be far from most of you. That is why I am expanding to other locations on select dates.

Select classes on the East Side will be held outside of Black Valve Studios. Just park on the street and make your way down the driveway to the class.

I am looking for a location on the West Side, so if you know of a place please contact me.

  • A unique aspect of my Boot Camps is that most, if not all, of my classes are performed outside. I began offering this service during the COVID-19 Pandemic as a way people can work out together without the fear of catching the disease. I also keep you on your feet, as no two workouts are the same each week.

Compared to other offerings in the area, my classes are supplemental to your weekly fitness routine whether you perform a strength training routine or frequent some of the national brands. This is just another way of building community through fitness.

  • It depends on the workout. Some days would include options to go easy or be pushed for a bigger challenge. However, most workouts will be less difficult than what would be considered a “CrossFit-style” routine. Modifications to each exercise can be made based off experience.

  • Most workouts, held at Kings Gym, will include a combination of dumbbells, kettlebells, boxes for agility and jumps, and tires. Outside of Kings, FitFighter Steelhoses, slam balls, resistance bands, and TRX bands are some of the pieces of equipment you can expect to use. I may have a couple of surprises for the end-of-workout games I have planned!

  • The preferred way is to go to https://wrkout.live/cppersonaltraining/booking and select the date and time when you want to attend.

  • As long as slots are not filled, you can drop in and join a class. Although, even if classes are full, I will probably let you join anyway!

  • Classes are typically $20 per person unless otherwise announced. My first outdoor class of the summer tends to be my “free” class.

You will pay before entering the class. I accept cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, credit card via Square, and Cash App.

  • I recommend bringing a fully-filled water bottle (there is a water fountain inside the gym), a towel, an exercise mat for stretching and ground work, and your energy!

  • Up to 20 with some classes maxing out at 30.

  • Classes will happen, rain or shine. They will be canceled up to an hour before class if there is lightning in the area or is forecasted for the hour. A class may be canceled at the trainer’s discretion, regardless of the weather.
